Configure Automatic Updates
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP Service Pack 1
Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel with Windows XP).
Double-click the Automatic Updates icon.
Check the box Keep my computer up to date. Select an update option in the Settings area. It is recommended to automatically download and install the updates on a schedule. Select a day and time for downloading and installing the updates. Click OK when finished.
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Click on Start -> Control Panel.
Double-click the Security Center icon.
If Automatic Updates is listed as OFF or CHECK SETTINGS, click the Automatic Updates link near the bottom of the window.
Select an update option. It is recommended to automatically download and install the updates on a schedule. Select a day and time for downloading and installing the updates. Click OK when finished.
