Set Internet Explorer for LAN Access

Windows 98/ME/2000

Start Internet Explorer.

Click on Tools -> Internet Options.

Click on the Connections tab.

Click the Setup button. This will start a wizard. On the first screen select the option to set up Internet connection manually or through a LAN. Click Next.

Click on the option to connect trough a Local Area Network (LAN). Click Next.

We don't use a proxy server so uncheck any boxes marked. Click Next.

You do not want to set up an Internet mail account, so click No then click Next.

Click Finish.

You should be able to connect to the Internet. If you are still having problems, try a different browser or contact Computer Support. If you live in the dorms contact 702 Communications at 284-4638.

Windows XP

Start Internet Explorer.

Click on Tools -> Internet Options.

Click on the Connections tab.

Click the Setup button. This will start a wizard. On the first screen click Next.

Select the option to Connect to the Internet. Click Next.

Select Set up my connection manually and click Next.

Click the circle next to Connect using a broadband connection that is always on. Click Next.

Click Finish to complete the wizard. Close and restart Internet Explorer to make sure the changes have taken effect.

You should be able to connect to the Internet. If you are still having problems, try a different browser or contact Computer Support for assistance. If you live in the dorms contact 702 Communications at 284-4638.
