Using Instant Messenger on the JES
Start the Instant Messenger (IM) client from any web browser by going to http://chat.cord.edu and clicking on the Start button.
Enter your Concordia College username and password and click OK.
You may be prompted to accept an untrusted certificate. If so, go ahead and accept it by clicking OK. It is the certificate from the JES.
You add contacts by clicking on the Add Contacts button.
If you know the username of the person you want to add just type their name in the User ID box. You can also click Find Contact to search through the Corporate Directory and add contacts that way.
After adding your contacts, it works the same as most other IM clients. Simply double-click a user then type in the lower box and hit Enter or click the Send button to send your message. You can also send files to your contacts by clicking the paper clip Attachment icon.
Browse for the file you want to send and click the Attach button to send the file. There is currently a 1MB limit on files sent through the IM client.
There are also an array of emoticons to add to your messages. Just click on the smiley emoticon icon and select from the list to insert them into your text.
