Activate Windows XP Firewall

Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1

Click on Start and go to Control Panel.

Double-click on Network Connections.

Right-click on Local Area Connection (or whichever connection you want to firewall) and select Properties.

Click the Advanced tab.

Check the Protect my computer and network... box and click OK.

Your Local Area Connection icon now has a padlock to indicate the firewall is active.

Windows XP Service Pack 2

Click on Start and go to Control Panel.

Double-Click on the Security Center icon.

If the Firewall is shown to be OFF, click on the Windows Firewall icon near the bottom of the screen.

Turn on the Windows Firewall. Click OK.

Exit the Security Center.
